Shoe Drama, Part 2
Published by
The plot thickens. I received a phone call yesterday afternoon at work from a nice man offering me free shoes. It's not what you think. Because I wear a sample size, I occasionally wear-test new models. I'd expressed an interest in an unnamed really lightweight new shoe a few months back, when a BAC member had posted to our club mailing list about wear-testing opportunities. The shoe shares the same type of midsole cushioning--a dense, lightweight, super responsive compressed space-age foam--as one of my current favorites, but incorporates it into a sleeker profile with a more aggressive outsole and a more minimal upper. (As a fellow runner helpfully noted, the currently available shoe with this cushioning "feels awesome, but looks like a pontoon.") They feel freakishly light. They feel FAST. After taking the new shoes for a spin last night, I'm seriously considering wearing them for my Sunday long run and, if they're as fabulous on a long run as they are on a short one, wearing them on race day. I take my wear-testing responsibilities seriously, after all.
